Poem#13: turn back

God is all:

All you need, all you want,

all you desire and have in mind.

God is all.

You go after the desires

of your heart because

you have not known my ways.

I am delightful to your soul.

You have been enriched by things

that do not satisfy.

You have come to regard

the commonplace

as extraordinary,

and the vile

as edifying.

You eat refuse

and drink that

which cannot quench

the thirst I

have put in you.

Your desire

is for Me, but

you will not come

to Me and have made

a heritage of replacing

My love

with perishable things.

I am your God,

I am your desire,

I am the fulfillment of

the draw

of your heart.

You were made

from the dust

of the earth,

and that dust

draws you away

to its desire.

Its desire

is to encase

you in what

does not profit.

The flesh profits

but the Spirit

is eternal life.

I would give

you life eternal.

All I ask

is you choose

My Spirit

over your flesh.

Dust you are,

and to dust

you shall return.

The Spirit

your spirit

are eternal.

Choose life,

and that

more abundantly.
