Poem#17: This One’s For You

This one’s for you

and all you do

for me.

I tried to be

The man you wanted me

To be

For you.

For You.

This one’s for you

And all you do.

I want to say to you

Before I leave,

I need

To be the man I see

In your eyes.

Goodbye is such a lonely word.

Goodbye,

It’s so absurd

To be leaving

Just as you’re knowing me.

Goodbye, I hate to leave you,

But goodbye

Is all I need

Because I

Am not who you want me

To be.

This one’s for you,

I tried to love you.

This one’s the truth

Up above what you

wanted me to be,

Tried to make you see

I’m not you.

This one’s for you,

Don’t you ever say you need me.

Untrue

To myself I’ve been to please you.

Now you

Have to let go of me.

Goodbye is such a lonely word.

Goodbye,

It’s so absurd

To be leaving

Just as you’re knowing me

Goodbye, I hate to leave you,

But goodbye

Is all I need

Because I

Am not who you want me

To be.
