Poem#19: You

There was once you

I knew.

I felt you when

You left, and then

There was no one like you.

You are my life,

You are my song.

I sought you out,

Looked for you all day long.

You are my dream,

Now to me you seem

The woman I knew all along.

I tried a day without you.

Remember, when you know,

I forgot about you

Just passing by,

I waited days and days,

Stayed right in the same place

Until you came walking by.

You are my life,

You are my song.

I sought you out,

Looked for you all day long.

You are my dream,

Now to me you seem

The woman I knew all along.

I knew it when you left,

Kicked myself instead

Of running after you that day.

So glad you came back into my life,

Forty years, my wife,

I love you as much as that day.

You are my life,

You are my song.

I sought you out,

Looked for you all day long.

You are my dream,

Now to me you seem

The woman I knew all along.
